Mirant Corporation

The City Council formed the Mirant Community Monitoring Group in 2004. It consists of three representatives from citizen/condominium associations, a representative from the City’s Environmental Policy Commission, two citizen members and two City Council members. The group has no legal authority over Mirant operations.

Mirant employees attend every meeting as observers but we have not been asked to join the Group. However, we are always available to answer questions about our operations and present information on any issue of interest to the Group. On September 20th, 2006, at the request of the group, we presented detailed information about current events such as the EPA’s Administrative Compliance Order and what it means for our operations. Specifically, we addressed the stack merge project, and developments concerning PM 2.5 testing and monitoring.
