Aquaculture Center at Chalk Point

Tim Klares leads Mirant's work at our aquaculture center at the Chalk Point plant in Maryland. In cooperation with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, the center raises a variety of fish that are released annually into the Chesapeake Bay and is home to 70 threatened adult Atlantic sturgeons (pictured).

We make and sell electricity competitively, reliably, ethically, and safely for customers throughout the United States.

Our business consists of:

  • Power generation from an asset portfolio of 13 power plants strategically located in high-population areas; and
  • Commercial operations that support our power generation plants — and our customers — through logistics, risk management, marketing, and trading activities.

Equally important to us is delivering power through people. We’re passionate about serving communities in whatever ways we can — whether that’s building homes for struggling families or clearing debris from rivers. For thousands of Mirant families, this is part of what being an “energy” provider is about.
