The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) works to protect our national and economic security by promoting a diverse supply and delivery of reliable, affordable, and environmentally sound energy.
To ensure the reliability of the D.C. area power supply, in January 2006 DOE authorized the Potomac River Generating Station to resume operations after the plant temporarily halted operations in response to a Virginia state action.
