At the Potomac River Generating Station, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) administers state laws and regulations for air quality and waste management. Permit writers and inspectors from DEQ conduct regular inspections at the station. The DEQ reviews and approves all compliance test protocols prior to testing, and witnesses all tests.

We send the DEQ:

  • Quarterly Air Quality Compliance reports and NOx Reasonably Available Control Technology (RACT) reports; a copy is also provided to the City of Alexandria;
  • Annual Continuous Emission Monitors (CEMs) Relative Accuracy Test Audit (RATA) reports; also reported to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency;
  • Annual Emissions Statements;
  • Biennial hazardous waste report; also reported to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA);
  • Annual Toxic Release Inventory; also reported to the EPA;
  • Annual Tier II Emergency and Hazardous Chemical Inventory Report; also reported to the Alexandria Local Emergency Planning Committee; and
  • Annual Report of Water Withdrawals.
